Victor Martinez made a guest posing appearance at Prince Harrison's 2008 NPC Lone Star Classic Bodybuilding, Fitness, & Figure Championships in Plano, Texas on June 7, 2008. The guest posing followed rampant speculation about whether Victor Martinez will return to the stage at the 2008 Mr. Olympia to challenge Jay Cutler after surgery for a torn left patellar tendon in January this year.

The rumors began last month on internet forums and were given credence when Flex Online reported that Victor had mailed in his signed Olympia contract and that Martinez purportedly told Flex Senior Writer Julian Schmidt that he planned to challenge Jay Cutler at the 2008 Mr. Olympia. The following week, Victor Martinez denied haven spoken to Julian Schmidt on MD's No Bull Radio reiterating that he has yet to make a decision on the matter.

Muscletime spoke with Victor Martinez at the NPC Lone Star Classic. He told Muscletime that he has only been training legs for about four weeks and will not make his final decision on competing in the Mr. Olympia until July. He decided to guest pose in shorts rather than posing trunks since he did not feel his legs were 100%. He pulled up his shorts to allow us a quick evaluation of his progress but asked us not to take photos just yet.

So, how did his legs look?

For someone who has trained legs only four weeks this year, they looked unbelievable. His leg size still overmatches most pros who have been training legs hard and heavy all year long. The size that he was able to maintain in his legs given his injury and extensive rehabilitation was simply amazing. We did not detect any asymmetry in leg size either. While I suspect most pros would envy the wheels Victor is currently sporting, Victor understandably expects to be no less than 100% when he competes.

Based on what we've seen, if Victor decides to compete at the 2008 Mr. Olympia, he will definitely be a threat to win it all. Olympia contenders have been forewarned.

Victor was a fan favorite at the wonderfully run Lone Star Classic promoted by Prince Harrison and sponsored and supported by many wonderful sponsors including Posedown Magazine, Rockhard Formulations, Labrada Nutrition and Europa Sports. He was busy signing photographs and DVDs along with top national level amateurs Stephen Frazier (guest posing routine below), Armon Adibi and Chris Jalali.
